We’re Back In Person! Why There’s Nothing Quite Like Learning Together Live

If you’ve been following our journey at the Get Permission Institute, you know how incredibly passionate we are about shifting the conversation around pediatric feeding. We talk a lot about trust, emotional safety, and reading a child’s cues. But today, we want to talk about our relationship with you!

You asked, we listened, and we are so excited to announce that we are returning to live, in-person learning this Fall 2026 in Baltimore, Maryland!

On September 25-26, we are hosting The Get Permission Approach to Anxious Eaters, Anxious Mealtimes live at Keller Williams Flagship of Maryland in Millersville.

If you work with children who face feeding challenges, or if you’ve been wanting to deeply understand neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed responsive feeding, we would love to have you in the room with us.

The Magic of “Live” vs. On-Demand

We love the convenience of on-demand webinars as much as anyone. They are fantastic for absorbing information at your own pace. But there is a distinct, undeniable magic that happens when a community gathers in the same room.

Here is why this live experience is completely different from watching a recording at home:

  • Real-Time, Dynamic Case Studies: When we look at case videos together in person, we aren’t just presenting data; we are analyzing real-life moments as they unfold. We can pause, discuss the subtle nuances of a child’s body language, and brainstorm treatment ideas together on the fly. You get to see how clinical decisions are made in real time.
  • The Significance of Varied Backgrounds: One of our favorite parts of live courses is looking out at the room and seeing an occupational therapist sitting next to a speech-language pathologist, who is talking to a pediatrician, an early intervention provider, a dietitian, and a parent. Everyone brings a different lens. When we tackle complex feeding challenges, the collaborative problem-solving born from these diverse perspectives is where the real breakthroughs happen.
  • Spontaneous Q&A and Connection: Have a specific question about a complex situation on your caseload? In a live setting, you don’t have to type it into a chat box and hope it gets seen. You can ask it during the session, dig into it with us during breaks, or chat with peers over lunch.

What We’ll Be Exploring Together

This isn’t just a refresher course. If you haven’t taken this course since 2016, the evidence-supported framework has evolved tremendously alongside new brain science and research.

We will be moving completely away from compliance-based strategies and outdated labels like “picky eaters.” Instead, we’re diving deep into:

  • Understanding the neurobiology of stress, pressure, and worry at mealtimes.
  • How sensory systems and unique neurodiverse learning styles impact enjoyment and safety.
  • Practical, compassionate treatment strategies (like Mealtime Peace, Rehearsals, and The Pivot) to foster internal motivation.
  • Shifting from doing to children to doing with children.

Whether you are an OT, SLP, PT, educator, or dedicated caregiver, you will leave this 17-hour continuing education workshop with a full toolkit of compassionate, practical strategies you can implement on Monday morning.
